About WaterCriteria

A filter can only be judged against a problem. Chlorine taste, lead, PFAS, hardness, iron and bacteria each need a different treatment, and a product label rarely tells you which contaminants are certified. WaterCriteria starts with your water report or test, then compares systems on independent certification, capacity, flow and the cost of replacement cartridges.

We cover drinking-water and well-water treatment for homes. Pool and spa water belongs to our sister site PoolTested. Our guides are general information; for a private well with a health concern, follow your local health department and a certified lab.
